The situation
A mid-sized manufacturer supplies components to large domestic and global OEMs from several energy-intensive plants. Customers, banks and regulators all scrutinise its ESG performance. The data sat in production, utilities, safety, HR and procurement, and was gathered by hand in spreadsheets. Annual reporting by consultants gave little operational insight, so ESG was treated as compliance.
